He’s still rocking that iconic bomber jacket and those aviator shades, however. In Top Gun: Maverick , Pete Mitchell is now a flight instructor mentoring the next generation of US Navy fighter pilots during a time when drone technology is threatening their livelihood. Val Kilmer returns to portray Tom “Iceman” Kazansky in the sequel, as he joined by Ed Harris, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, and Lewis Pullman. It’s also worthy of note that Jerry Bruckheimer, who produced Top Gun alongside Don Simpson, serves as a producer for Top Gun: Maverick with Cruise and David Ellison.
