Another taster from the Noah's World project, with the title sequence available below.
The hardest (and yet perhaps most beneficial) thing for any new writer is getting the chance to see your stories in production. On Noah's World I was lucky enough to have a drama, three webisodes and a podcast fully realised from my original scripts. I was even allowed to lend a hand in the production process and learnt a lot from watching the other members employing their various disciplines.
I was mainly tasked with holding this big shiny thing, very still, for long periods of time throughout the shoot. But I was reassured I was doing a good job!
Below is the podcast recorded by two of the character's, Nick and Noah. The experience of writing for, and recording with some very hyper twelve year olds was a memorable one! It was great to see the enthusiasm with which the young actors approached the script and the credible performances they gave despite reading off of the page.
Most reassuringly, they were never afraid to give their opinions on the writing, suggesting tweaks where necessary. This really helped hone in on creating a credible voice in my writing for a young age group. When the actors and their friends and family were invited to a screening of the work, it was fantastic to see them reacting to what they were seeing and hearing and really helped me to determine the most effective style, delivery and sense of humour for the target age group.
